Today was the second of a no run day. So I had two strength training days in a row. I am not doing too much 3 sets of 75 crunches, and 3 sets of 12 push-ups. I think I can finally add these in and make strength training a permanent part of by new life style. It took me the first three month to get my diet and running worked into my daily life. So now I can add a new element. I think I am finally ready. I tried to add it at the beginning, but it was too much too soon. I have learned to listen to my body. I know I need it, but I wasn’t ready earlier. Periodically I keep trying it again, and now I feel like it is going to stick.
My weight loss hit a slight stand still, but I am ok with the three pound gain after the long holiday season. I have mostly kept it under control and am maintaining my weight for the last week of vacation, which is better than gaining. I am making healthy food choices (even when eating out with friends), but I am struggling a bit with portion control again. So I am not losing because I am not eliminating 500 calories a day, but I am not gaining either because I am still burning a lot with my cardio so I am just consuming as much as I am expending. As soon as I get back to work on Monday morning, I will be on a schedule and will planned meals and accurate food recording, and it will be easier to be on track.
I can’t wait until it is the law for restaurants to list the calories count with each menu item. I know it is only an approximation and they are sometimes off by 100-300 calories, but it is better than not knowing at all.
Overall, the first three months were a great start. I lost enough weight to feel good, look better, and enjoy life more. I understand food and exercise more than I ever have before, and I feel a huge thirst for even more knowledge and I am constantly looking up new and more information and recipes. Most the time I enjoy it but once in a while I feel like I am obsessing and I get a bit sick of it. This year, I am shooting for finding a balance and establishing more routines so I can just eat healthy and exercise without thinking about it so much, so that it is more like a habit and second nature in my life and it will all just be a permanent lifestyle and will endure for the long haul.
Here is to a great start to what is going to be the best year of my life so far. With my wonderful husband (who is also made/making great improvement in his health) and a career I love, and a family that supports me, I can’t wait to have a body that is strong enough to allow me to enjoy the life I want to live and wear the clothes that show off my fashion and style!

I seem to be hungry all the time and I am not sure if it is the running or if it is that I am on vacation and can seem to stop eating. The good thing is I seem to be eating mostly healthy foods, fruit, vegetables, tofu, salads, nonfat milk, lean meats, whole wheat oatmeal or breads, nonfat plain Greek yogurt, etc. However, I am still eating too much food, which I think has caused the weight gain. The other problem is I still haven't added the weight training. I set up a schedule and looked up great home weight training techniques that I could do every non run day, but I just don't seem to have the motivation to actually do it. Which is strange because I never skip a run anymore and even when the motivation is hard to come by, I still push myself to get it done?
