I'm a mother of two trying to learn to balance my life of children, marriage and work, and squeezing in some time for me somewhere (or I will someday, I keep promising myself). In the world of social work and being a parent, my schedule rarely goes according to planned and the needs of others are always at the forefront--and time-critical. I don't want to fall victim, as so many moms and social workers do, of sacrificing my physical, mental and spritual health because I'm more concerned with immediate issues than making healthy long-term choices. I'm trying to build habits of physical fitness and healthy living that are a model for my clients and my children...and are good for me, too. I'm less concerned about weight loss than healthy living, but I do recognize weight loss as a useful (though not sufficient) tool to measure progress. I'm hoping to build lifestyle habits that reflect healthy living, not trying to crash diet to reach a magic number.
