24 April 2023

No weight loss this week, but I have lost 2.8lbs for the month of April so far, with 1 week to go. I still am not sure what my set point will be, so this is all just a learning experience for me. I had a check-up with my GP last week and she thought that I should increase my caloric intake to 1800-1900. I have decided not to do that for the moment and stick with 1700-1800. I am going to stay the course for 1 more month. If I stay at 148 then so be it and then I will consider myself as having reached my set point and then start the even harder journey of maintenance.

I never thought that I would be at this point, that it was even possible to take off this amount of weight - almost 90lbs. All I can say for those who like me who have been overweight most of their adult life is that it can be done. You have to start believing in yourself - a gradual process to be sure. You have to have patience, as you didn't put it on in 6 months and you're not going to take it off in 6 months. It has been 2 years this April since I started to visualize, to aspire, to hope that this time I could do it.

Once I started to take off a significant amount of weight, my focus increased and my confidence grew. I didn't really share my weight loss with anyone, sure people noticed but it was something that I was doing for myself, not for anyone else, so it became a private journey for me as really no one could help me. I had to help myself, to discover what was going to work for me, what I was willing to sacrifice to get the weight off. This journey of self-discovery is different for everyone. I hope my ramblings here inspire others that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I never knew that before.

Happy Monday everyone and have a good week!

17 April 2023

Good morning everyone. My original goal was 150lbs. Once I reached 150lbs I reset my goal to 145lbs not knowing if that would be possible as I have been overweight by anywhere from 20lbs to as you can see from my start 80+lbs for decades. Over the last 2-2.5 weeks I have had COVID (really mild and brief) but where the heck did I get it from??? Then when I was clear from COVID went on on vacation. I still managed to hold my weight steady, although I lost about 3lbs during COVID I didn't record it because it wasn't natural. I hold my calories between 1700-1800, still eating a balanced diet because that is what works for me. For exercise I do about 20 minutes of stretching per day, 30-45 minutes of walking per day and am back to doing my free weights program 3 times a week. I have been following the great advice from stomach monkeys which has also echoed a friend who says for fat burning, strength training is a must. I so relate to so many of your struggles and am inspired by your successes. I am still seeing if 145lbs is attainable. Right now, it seems to be. The journey continues.
