Yesterday I had to get bloodwork and x-rays done. They've found spinal stenosis in my lower back. I knew it was there because it feels the same as it does in my neck where they'd already found the spinal stenosis years ago. This means I can no longer do the only physical exercise I was cleared for which was only 15 minutes on the treadmill anyway, but at least it was something. I'll be starting physical therapy though so at least I'll be doing something physical and hopefully that means that at the end of it, I'll be cleared to do more at the gym.

The bloodwork also showed that my vitamin D is too low even though I'm already taking 1,000 units a day so that's been raised to 2,000 a day. My cholesterol is 226 and should be below 200 and my LDL is 155 and should be below 100. They said I could get a prescription or try to control it with diet so I'm going to try to control it with diet. Bye-bye burgers! The bloodwork also showed that I'm borderline pre-diabetic so I have to try to get a handle on that too with diet.

I've been struggling with losing weight. I think the biggest problem is not being able to exercise. It's hard to lose weight when I can't do anything physical. Maybe all of this will be what I need to get me on track to reach my goals. Who knows, once I get all of this under control, maybe I won't even need the weight loss surgery I was considering!

I'm frustrated, nervous, angry, confused, and yet also oddly hopeful and excited as well.

September 8 I have an appointment with a dietician and I'm sure I'll learn a lot of helpful information. Meanwhile, I'll do the best I can and get a jump start.
