Wednesday weigh-in: Down a half a pound, anyway. 👍🏻 I weighed 188 on December 27 before my doctor visit on December 29 when he put me on the DASH diet; I weighed 186 that day. The next day, because of all the new things I would be eating, namely carbs, I raised my daily calories from 1200 to 1400 and set my macros at the standard version of the diet at C 55% - F 27% - P 18. On January 1 I adjusted my macros to C 48 - F 27 - P 25 when I found an article by the National Institute of Health describing a study by OmniHeart which tested three different versions of the diet, one was the standard DASH diet, one increased the protein, and one increased the fat. I chose the version with slightly higher protein. So far, this has been an adventure and I am enjoying all the new foods and new recipes! 😋

When my doctor told me to go on the DASH Diet because my blood pressure was high during my yearly physical, as a post menopausal woman I was concerned about the low amount of protein recommended. I found a higher protein version on the Heart Association website which I adopted in my daily macros. Even though when I returned for my follow up appointment two weeks later after tracking my blood pressure daily I found that it was white coat syndrome, I decided to do the diet anyway. My macros this week were perfect! ❣️
