Finally, the scale starts moving again! 4 OZ. over 2 wks was about to get me! But I did drop into a smaller jeans size and lost 1/2" off my waist, so I knew things were progressing. Now I have a little back-up from the scale to make me feel better. :)

I can't believe how much of a difference this not-quite 9 lbs has made both in my face and in how my clothing fits! Thank GOODNESS for that, because I've been fighting the blues, and this has really given me a needed lift! I'm a little nervous, because I step into Phase 2 today. I'm not having problems with craving junk or anything; I just know that there's the possibility that my weight may stall or fluctuate for a week or two as things settle in, and while I know that in my head, having to deal with it on the scale can still do a number on my mood.

So does wrestling wild grape vines in my yard count as exercise? Since they're trying to take over the beds out front, wrapping themselves tightly around tall trees and big bushes, I played tug-of-war with 2 tall trees and climbed into around large bushes for a good while this afternoon. Since I came away from it feeling like I'd wrestled a bear, I sure hope it can count as some cardio! lol

I miss the grains and fruit, but this first week hasn't been bad, just a bit inconvenient. I've had the shakes in the morning a few times--the feeling, not a drink. :) This is a bit of a concern, because I've never dealt with that before. I've had mid-afternoon low blood sugar shakes prior to SBD, but never woke up with them. Possibly I'm sleeping in too long and not getting breakfast soon enough?

Well, I messsed around and then went on vacation, both from home and from healthy, sane eating. :-p
Our son moved to college a week and a half ago, the same day my sis-in-law died quite unexpectedly halfway across the country. Since then, I've been away at the funeral and on a mini vacation, but now, the reality of the empty nest begins to set in. Luckily, Labor Day weekend will bring him home, so perhaps the empty nest thing won't be too traumatic for awhile. My problem is the silence that reigns in the house when he's not here...but that's for another forum. :) I am re-starting Phase 1 of SBD, and I plan to draw up a 3-week menu this afternoon. With only two of us, surely I can plan out meals that we both will eat, so as to make my grocery buying more efficient and thus cut down on random miscellaneous food laying around, begging to be eaten. My h does want some junk, but not a lot, and if I buy what he likes but I don't care for, that should do away with the temptation to eat what I shouldn't.
I feel that I need to be very regimented again. I'm one of those "give me an inch and I'll take a mile" types when it comes to food, so I need to be very strict with myself and not allow ANY "cheats." That's really what worked before. I don't think I ate ANYTHING that wasn't on the SBD foods-to-enjoy list for about a year. I finally took a bite of cake at a celebration and HATED it.
I don't plan to rule out "treats", but they'll be totally Beachy, like cinnamon, sweetener, and vanilla stirred into yogurt to take the place of a cinnamon roll. Or a square of dark chocolate, but only about once a week (after I get back into P2 again).
I CAN do this! I HAVE to do this! My knees and hips...and probably blood sugar levels...demand it!
