Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year did me in. I totally went off my diet and threw caution to the wind. I gained weight over the holidays but now I've renewed my New Year's resolution to lose the weight I gained and then some. However, I must admit that I got spoiled over the holidays and I'm now craving all those great foods that I haven't been able to eat on my diet.

Yesterday I walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I started out walking at 1 mile per hour which proved to be too slow since I happen to be a very fast walker. So I sped it up to 1.5 miles per hour and that was much better. I didn't want to go too fast because of my bad knee. I simply want to slowly work out until I regain some strength in the muscles in that knee. When I started walking I went 5 minutes and thought I was going to die but I used to be a runner and I wasn't about to quit after only 5 minutes so I convinced myself to do 10 minutes. When I got to 10 minutes I was starting to feel more energized and told myself I could do 15 minutes. Well, when I got to 15 minutes I felt so good and so thrilled with myself I thought what the heck, I'll keep going. I did and made it to 30 minutes. I walked .68 tenth of a mile, burned off 340 some calories, I forget how much fat it said I burned off, but I was proud of myself. However, I thought for sure that I wouldn't be able to get out of bed the next day. Much to my surprise, I did, and my knee didn't seem to bother too much. I will give my knee a chance to recuperate for a day and then I'll do that again in a day or two. I want to get more exercise instead of sitting around getting fat. I know if I can jump start my metabolism I'll lose weight a whole lot faster. I know because this is my third time at dieting, but the other two times I was a lot younger and a lot more active.

Had to take my neighbor to the hospital for surgery on his hand. Was there by 8 a.m. and his surgery was scheduled for 10:10 a.m. They prep'ed him and then we waited and waited and waited. He wasn't even taken in for his surgery until 12:30. The surgery was about 45-60 minutes long but then he had to spend 1-1/2 hour in recovery. By this time it was around 3:30 p.m. and thank goodness I had eaten my Atkins ham and cheese omelet and drank an Atkins French Vanilla Shake before we left in the morning. Thank goodness I also had the foresight to bring along an Atkins Peanut Butter Granola Bar and a small pack of Atkins Chocolate Peanut Candies or I would have been passed out on the floor from hypoglycemia. We didn't get home from the hospital until 5:30 p.m. at which time I devoured my Atkins Meatloaf with Portobello Mushroom Gravy meal. We didn't expect to be spending the whole day at the hospital, but that's what happened which really threw off my eating schedule.

Today I worked like a man in the hot sun closing up my pool. Between all the walking and sweating I did, plus what I ate, which was very little, tomorrow I should be at least 2 to 3 pounds lighter.
