The weather is perfect right now! For weeks it hasn't been cooling down in the evenings. Last night it was cool and I was able to sleep with the window open. The thermostat says 70 degrees right now. It has been 77-78 when I wake up with the a/c running all night. It will reach the mid to high 80's today but there is at least another hour of nice weather. All my doors are open along with most windows. It will be back to close to 100 by next Saturday, but I'll enjoy whatever we get that is cooler. As long as it cools down overnight I'll be happy.

I've been going to Costco too much ever since the new store opened just 30 miles away. I got a chocolate sundae AND a hot dog and coke the last night we went. The sundae was huge. I ate it at the food court and brought the hot dog home. It's so easy to spend money there. I am really focussed on price. I bought a nice Samsung tablet about 3 weeks ago when they had a $50 off coupon. I love it and I actually did need it. Bought Bobby a huge bed that he really doesn't need (he has 2 smaller beds) but he was so good those 3 months when the house was for sale I want to pamper him a little. Of course the cats want to sleep in it too. I even bought some king size sheets for the king bed I dont't have yet! It was difficult but I resisted the huge bag of regular Ruffles potato chips. I think they were on sale for $5.99. A family size bag is $7.99 at my grocery store and the Costco bag is about 3 times the size of that. But I told myself, no matter the price, I don't need that many chips in the house unless I have lots of company who like chips!

Took my obese, diabetic cat in to the vet on Thursday for a glucose curve. When I went to pick him up the vet had already gone but the receptionist/technician who has known me for the 12 years I've been taking the pets there said Marco is 22 pounds. When he was diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago he was 16. She didn't say how, but said he needs to take weight off. They also upped his Vetsulin (insulin) dosage. I need to talk to the vet to make sure the food I have been giving him is alright and how much should he lose. If he loses 10% of his weight, 2 pounds, he will still weigh too much, but that is my first goal for him. Right now I am feeding him the same amount but skipping treats and once he eats his food I make sure he doesn't finish off the food the other cats are too slow to eat. I'm trying to feed him in a different room. All my cats graze - a bite here and there and a little more later. I've ordered a scale for pets and will track all 3 cats. The other 2 weigh about 11 pounds each. Don't really want them to lose weight.

Today is leftover panko crusted chicken I made in the air fryer and I'm not sure what else. Yogurt with sliced almonds. I have enough brussels sprouts left for one more meal but I am actually pretty sick of them after eating them several days in a row. I had coffee and half an English muffin for breakfast. Can't totally give up bread but I can try to small portions.

Had better luck with the air fryer today, although I'm thinking I need a better quality one. I cooked Brussels sprouts in it for lunch, cutting them in half and then spritzing them with olive oil. They turned out good. Half an hour later I decided to trying cooking shrimp in it. I had marinated them in a little soy sauce, lemon juice and then decided to add Keys Steakhouse Asian sesame salad dressing. They turned out really good! Will make them again tomorrow.

I had Budget Blinds here yesterday and ordered a roll up blind to put on the outside of the sliding glass door in the master bedroom, the room that gets so hot during the summer. Also ordered blackout blinds for all 3 skylights which allows lots of heat inside. Hopefully that will help keep the house a little cooler. Got an email from PG&E that said c my next bill is projected to be over $700. My sister told me her bill was $900. Another streak of several 100+ days coming up next week. It's been in the high 90's for the last few days.

Peach cobbler is in the oven, since 8:30am. I will only use the oven in the morning during the hot, hot months of summer. Not sure how it will turn out as I only got 5 cups of peaches when the recipe calls for 8. I used a smaller baking dish than called for. I'm a lousy cook regardless, but I am crossing my fingers for this. The calories for one serving are included in today's food journal. There are supposed to be 6 servings, but who knows. My plan was to freeze 3 servings and have 1 serving today through Friday. It's also possible I'll eat 3 servings today or throw the whole thing out if it's awful or I burn it. Reminds me, I need to go check it.

Lunch plans are more rotisserie chicken from Costco and to air fry Brussels sprouts. Snacks are the Costco snack package of peanuts and string cheese. Bobby and kitty Marco are thrilled about the chicken!
