Military Retired, 20 years Coast Guard - (cook), and in good shape, so I thought. Doctors said change your diet or all the cholesterol will get you.
Late last month a stent replaced a 99% blockage in my Left Anterior Descending (LAD) Artery - Post heart attack."The Widow Maker". - Dr. said I should be dead, wife (who is a nurse) said I should be dead. I tried denying for a few days that I had actually suffered a heart attack. Once the realization hit, motivation began to take over. I would have never bet I would be reading labels on packages of food, limiting the number of beers and dropping the cigarettes when I enjoyed "beers w/ the guys".
Remembering the tears from my wife in the hospital, and all the friends and family who visited was the push I needed to decide to "change my ways". Time to get healthy, in shape and muscle cut. Nothing drastic, but good cardio and a healthy looking body. Think "firefighter" or "professional beach volley ball player". (insert a chuckle here). Yup, gonna make it happen!
