I'm Deborah,
My aim is to keep my blood sugar levels normal by continuing to follow a well balanced diet and to maintain my fitness levels.
The first is easy...I am a qualified cook (probably my downfall in the first place) the second is more tricky but I find I now feel guilty if I don't get my 10,000 steps a day. So if I'm not power walking around the woods (I love trees and being in woods) or practising yoga (I love the tranquility this brings), then I'm just walking along our local roads, picking up litter some days and enjoying watching the seasons change as the farmers plant, tend and harvest their crops.
And when I am not doing any of the above I knit, I tapestry, I grow herbs and practise aromatherapy, reiki and other spiritual stuff like that, trying to bring healing where I can, as I believe you should always put something back into the world.
So Here I am back again after a 4 year break. The 2020 Covid pandemic took its toll in that I moved my mum in with us and that took our time in caring for her, she has Alzheimers, had limited mobility and incontinence. Mum stayed with us for 2 years and then had to go into residential care as she became totally immobile, had all theissues that that entails and I could not get the help that I needed to keep her with us. Mum is settled and happy and I have managed to get my life together. The main cost to me was not so much my weight, as I am still 57kg, but my sugar levels have risen to pre-diabetic, possibly due to stress, so here I am monitoring my diet and exercise to see if I can bring the sugar levels down to what they were up until last year. Onwards and upwards......(though not the sugar levels)
