Starting Again
I'm starting again too. Lots 15lb but now 2 years later back to where I started. I like theoretcically the idea of being slimmer but I like food more and just can't seem to find the motivation.

OT: How do you say "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year".
Joyeux Noel et Bonne Année for us here in France where Christmas dinner is traditionally eaten at midnight on 24th after church.
We're English so we eat ours on 25th - though we did go to the Christmas service last night. The 26th Boxing Day was so called because it was originally the holiday for servants in the UK (some centuries ago). It was the first ever proper holiday and after serving their masters on Christmas Day the servants were allowed to go home to their own families on the 26th taking with them a 'Christmas Box' which would contain leftovers and outworn household good, clothes etc which they could give to their families. So Boxing Day has continued as the day when we all go visiting and is still a Bank Holiday in England.

weekends
Make yourself a big beautiful plate of veggie sticks to dip in hummus and eat! It'll take you ages to cut up the carrots, cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes etc. Arrange it all on a big platter with the dip in the middle - you could make a tomato salsa too if you liked. Even if you ate it all it would be a lot less calories than junk food and making it will keep you occupied. If you share it you will have company and not thing about food so much.
If your knees hurt too much to walk you could do some exercises in a chair
http://www.howtodothings.com/health-and-fitness/a3243-how-to-do-chair-exercises.html
You can use a couple of cans of beans or something instead of dumbbells.
It is only the first weekend, be kind to yourself - if you deprive yourself and make yourself unhappy you'll never keep it up. Slowly but consistently will work better.

this is not rocket science
Mikeg68 - Smug is not attractive. If we were all the same we'd all be slim and this site wouldn't even exist. If I didn't eat after 6.00 pm I'd never eat as everyone here is still at work at that time!
I'm off to eat my (sensible veggie filled) dinner at 8.40 pm my time and follow it up with a delicious cup of coffee. Some of us eat healthily, live where takeaways don't even exist and are still overweight. If only life were really as simple as you think it is!
