First journal entry...maybe I should do some kind of intro for anyone who decides to read?

I am a 27 year old mother of 2, my daughter is 5 and my son is a year old (13 months if you want to get really technical). I am married to a stick of a man who calls the tiniest little bit of bub on his belly "fat", and can eat whatever he wants, whenever he likes, and remain at 165lbs. See? Stick man.

I have always struggled with my weight. As a teenager I struggled with eating disorders. At 17 I was at a healthy weight, 145lbs, and I wish I'd never complained about that!

I started putting weight on when I was about 18, I liked to blame it on birth control. I gained over 50lbs in a year, and no matter what efforts I put into losing weight it only seemed to keep me from gaining.

In the spring of 2003, I went off of the BC hoping to lose weight before my wedding. It worked, and I went down 2 sizes in jeans in about a month, from a 20 to a 16. I controlled my portions and got a little more cardio exercise in. I was on a roll, and then I got pregnant with my daughter :) . I gained way too much during my pregnancy, and when I delivered I was 258lbs!

From then, I did some yo-yoing in my weight, I tried The South Beach diet, which worked well enough and I got down to 220 quickly, but I struggled with the low carb aspect. I LOVE fruit and I LOVE breads.

My weight crept up again over time, and when I got pregnant with my son, I weighed as much as I did when I had my daughter. I was scared to death, but with my son I could not stomach sweets, and ended up losing weight. At my 6 week postpartum appointment I weighed 230lbs. I thought that was great, and everyone said I would lose SO much more while breastfeeding.

That didn't happen, I just stayed at the same weight, and as soon as I quit, the weight started creeping back up.

My size 22 jeans are tight around my middle, and I am so out of shape that playing with my kids exhausts me and I've decided that it's not acceptable.

So far, my plan is just to get moving and eat less. I am an emotional and boredom eater. I have started by counting calories and trying to keep between 1400 and 1600 a day. I do Leslie Sansone's "Walk Away the Pounds" DVDs 5 times a week, and my husband and I try to take the kids out for a walk at a path not far from where we live. We try to walk for an hour when we go out there, and I am getting better at keeping the pace brisk.

My biggest problems are night snacking and going crazy on the weekends while my husband is home. I also get on the scale too much. I have always been obsessed with the number. I try to limit myself to getting on once every few days because I know that weight can fluctuate, but it's hard. I need to get rid of it, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Well that's my novel...wish me luck!
