I made a triple batch of salsa verde today and wonder why I ever thought I wanted a 5 gallon pail of tomatillos at one time? I can only really handle 3 pounds of tomatillos at once unless I hire an employee to help me, ha ha. I picked tomatillos and peppers (check out the color and heat lines on these, they're HOT), washed them, prepped them for the grill, fire roasted with onions, and processed in the blender for the reducing in the pot. Now it is cooling so I can put them in containers for the freezer, labeled HOT Salsa Verde (I won't be sharing this batch with company, I will have to make a far milder version for sharing with friends and family). Recipe calls for 2-4 jalapenos per pound of tomatillos so I used 10 big dark ones, and it makes me sweat to eat much of it. Very tasty though! I wish I could do this on a larger scale but it took so much time and effort just to do this run, and I have several more runs to do just like this in the next week or so, besides canning pickled jalapenos. I picked 44 ripe jalapenos today but I'm too tired to pick more and do the recipe for pickling that, plus the water bath canning today.
Have a great evening everyone!

Hand crafted from home grown ingredients in small batches. I had just enough ripened today to make the first run, get the recipe perfected. Hmm, maybe more lime? Those jalapeños are spicy!

I told my mother that garage sales, especially in a rural area where we live, are a total waste of time. It averages out to be around $2 per hour for all the work, we have done it before and it was a miserable failure. She insisted and cleaned out a lot of stuff, that was a good that came from having the sale. Stuff is sorted out to go to Goodwill now (not that I care for Goodwill's business model, but they take our junk for free. Let them figure out what to do with it.)
I sold some books though, more than I have at previous sales. I have some book "sets" that are worth money on eBay auctions, but I am not an eBay seller and don't wish to become one. I was just looking there to get an idea of how much the books are going for. Most of the books I sold for $1 each, like new hardcovers. One lady drove 25 miles for a box of John Grisham hardcovers, I got some money for those, but they were listed on Facebook Marketplace where she saw the ad. I sold a catfish reel for $50 on Marketplace too, so it was a good sale for me overall. I cleared off an entire bookcase and put that bookcase out for sale but it didn't sell. The books will be donated, the ones that did not sell.
Maybe in a city where there are a lot of garage sales they are more popular? Do people go to them anymore, or is that so 1980? I don't think people even carry very much cash anymore. Mostly we got neighbors stopping by and they didn't buy much. We met some neighbors though and that was ok.
I'm never doing a garage sale again. Period.
