Fat Secret's peferences section charts that for you. You have to obtain the kind of info necessary for your goals, however, in order to determine over what period of time and how much fat loss you want to see - then you insert the caloric intake you need to reach your goal. For instance, if you've found 1900 calories per day is that number of calories, that's the number you insert into the preferences section. The book, Good Carbs, Bad Carbs includes percentages FCP of 30,40,30. From what I can see, FatSecret tells you the grams of 'nutrients' digested, it has sugar as a separated entity to carbs, so that's confusing. The pie chart at the bottom of the food diary doesn't have an alcohol slice, so it bungs it into protein.

Calories from food
I am somewhat confused by the percentage of calories by food group. According to what I have read, the percentage of calories from Fat, Carbs and Protein (FCP's) should be in the ratio of 25% 45% and 30% respectively.
Yet when I look at my intake only about 60% of my calories are coming from these items, the remainder, I assume come from other ingredients such as sugar.
So if only 1200 calories are derived from FCP's out of 1800 daily calorie intake, how do I calculate my intake of FCP's as a percentage, is it by the total calorie intake or the weighted average of total FCP's?

Weight gain in a morning
I found the answer. This morning I got on the scales and had put on 12 pounds according to the scales. After some expletives I checked the scales and found that the large counter weight on the bar was slightly out of the groove. Unbeknown to me, my wife had weighed herself and instead of leaving her weight for all to see had moved it back to mine except she didn't put 'the brick' in the right place.
I'd give her a piece of my mind but I don't like hospital food.
When I had everything set, I had lost another pound.

If it's one day only, it may just be the margin for error of your scale.
I don't know since I don't normally weigh myself twice a day, goodness knows why I did today, other than something to do waiting for the shower to run hot.
The scales are those Healthmeter, balanced type, so are fairly accurate.
