Alcohol
I'm not sure about carb free, but rum and coke is low, as well as Michelob Ultra beer (2.6 gram carbs and only 95 cal) that's what I prefer...I need to keep it simple! Red Wine is even less than the Michelob, I hear!

new report
interesting article information you shared. I recall reading that as well. I've seen several along similar lines recently in doing research on the low carb diet vs. a non-restrictive carb approach. I consider the study you mentioned, as proof that it can't be a bad idea! Thanks for posting that...for those that do not know of it's existance! Have a great day!

Tomorrow's D day
It's hard avoiding bread for the first week...after that, it's smooooooth sailing!!
My advice is TAKE ONE DAY AT A TIME, be patient, be KIND to yourself, and make lots of friends on here!! The people on here are GREAT!

Fat Fast
Lori, you're hilarious! Well, the discussion has been fun, if nothing else! Debates are kinda fun!
have a good day out there! I know I will be enjoying TORNADO-VILLE!! I'm about to head off to work and pick up more trees which should equal MORE calorie burning! (and blisters!)

Fat Fast
Sara,
I really feel prompted to say something in response to your post. I hope you'll ignore it if you wish, as well.
Although it's true that the fat fast was designed for those who were metabolically resistent, I do not recall reading that it was not ever meant for people who were so close to their weight goal. In fact, I haven't found any material to support that statement. The Atkins book states that it was designed for those people who were completely resistent to losing body fat, a long plateau or a stall, such as what I myself experience. Dr. Atkins also states that he considers it safe to utilize the fat-fast to jumpstart the weight loss process, for up to a week. Most people will not want to go longer than that, just out of sheer boredom with constricted food choices, but he does mention how a person who finds success on the FF, can intersperse a few carbs and continue to remain on the FF.
A positive way to look at this would be that anyone who chose to properly follow the advice of Atkins while doing the short-lived fat fast, should experience
some kind
of jump start to their weight loss, and should consider it fairly safe.
After the longest weight plateau of my life, I did the FF for 5 days and have finally been able to move the scale just a bit. However, I do not feel that I made an irrational decision simply because I had a smaller percentage of body fat to lose.
I am not meaning to offend you AT ALL, believe me, but I have been watching the same Atkins buddies struggle just as much
or more
than myself with losing weight. Of course when they see progress is made by participating in the Fat Fast, they buzz about giving it a try! I don't believe that constitutes as getting "out of control", nor do I think it poses a threat to their current health.
