I gained this week. No surprise. I ate more than I can and expect a weight loss. Four days out of seven were well above my calorie 'window'.

Some of it has to do with not eating at home. I have been in town for 6 days out of 7. This has been eating out. Some eating out choices were definitely high. Others not so much. The fact is that I am left guessing what I have eaten and I know that the bias is to assume less rather than more. This trips me up even when I try to allow for that tendency. Also there is the attitude that lives within me that eating out is a 'treat' and so I give myself permission to indulge myself a bit more than I would at home.

Recognizing the pitfalls is excellent on my part. What will matter is how I deal with this knowledge so it doesn't keep adding more weight on. Today is a good example. Lunch and possibly supper will be elsewhere. I have a plan for lunch but supper is in limbo.

Very busy week! My landscaping workers continue, I have dealt with a medical appointment, assisted my granddaughter in getting her apartment, walked through the rental property with new renters, got a haircut and today will be driving 2.5 hours each way to wish my friend a happy birthday- made her coconut macaroons as she is gluten and dairy free. My father in law's house should close by next Friday so lots of scrambling has been going on as we got to the final signatures (yesterday!)

I want it to be said that I really really wanted to log in yesterday's weight! It would have shown a 0.2 pound loss. Instead I am logging in a 1.2 pound gain. I had to tell myself that the point of doing this was accountability and not the number I publicly admit to. I am only fooling myself when I am dishonest in my recording. Man, it can be hard.

Yesterday I was on track until the last two hours of the day. I ate salt water taffy and some cheese slices. Those added up to 350 calories. Doesn't take much.

The other six days I ate within my zone and was modestly losing (that .2 pound loss!). It wasn't coming off as easily as the week before but that wasn't surprising since I lost 3.4 pounds last week.

Today I am traveling 2.5 hours to a wedding. That means I am eating lunch on the road, a wedding supper and breakfast and lunch on the road coming home. I will need to be mindful of my choices.

Last week went well. I met with a government official around government Women Shelter policy, had a massage, prepped for next month's casino, met with my outgoing renter and made arrangements to get the house ready for the next renters. I have a friend/artist who is beginning some landscaping around my house. He will likely be working for a couple of weeks to get it all done. It is exciting to see it taking shape.

Nothing like returning to 'regular' eating! I have lost 3.4 pounds this week. Last week I gained 3.2 pounds so essentially I have broken even. However, in saying that, if I hadn't been strictly following regular patterns that 3.2 pounds would have cemented in and been hard to lose later.

Compared to all the excitement of the last month and last week in particular this has been a relaxing and quiet week. Mostly this week has been about returning my place back to pre-party normal. There was tidying in the out buildings, paying the last bills, and working in the blazing heat (93F) with my grandson (16) to take lights down off the barn, shovel and wheelbarrow gravel and otherwise dismantle the horseshoe pits, move cement blocks from one building to another and then just general tidying. It was 3 hours of toil with the grandson! I did take him and his sister for ice cream afterwards and of course I had some too!

I have instituted a new pattern for myself. The daily walk. The plan is that I will walk no less than 15 minutes per day. I am embarrassed to say that this goal is not super easy. I keep wanting to do something else... but thus far I have done it! It definitely feels good to do it afterwards.

It has been two weeks since I last weighed in. It has been a busy time with lots of company, a big outdoor party at my place and eating erratically for 4-5 days.

When the dust all cleared and I was returning to 'normal' eating habits I gained 4.6 pounds. There was still some foods available in the house that were super high calorie (maple cream cookies, fancy chocolate covered Oreos) which meant that I continued to eat outside of my calorie window for the next 3 days. I finished off the chocolate covered Oreos and tossed out half a package of maple cream cookies. I froze the rhubarb crisp into smaller portions. Sorted out my fridge and got rid of things or froze others to get back to a ground zero!

Yesterday was my first inside the calorie window day! I lost in those initial high calorie but moving in the 'right' direction days which just goes to show how much I was eating above in those 4-5 days! The weather was gorgeous all weekend long!

Today the damage is a gain of 3.2 pounds. Fortunately I plan to have at home ordinary days for the next 5 weeks so that will help. Then a weekend away and back at the normal days again.

Other than the gain- my weekend party was a resounding success! I had 125 people for the pig roast and dance and around 100 people camping for the weekend. There were 3 trailers that got stuck however we got them out just fine. I need to attend to getting the thatch under the grass out so it doesn't hold the moisture so well. There were lots of people vying for the 6 game trophies. In horseshoes we had 15 teams, and all the other games were around 10 teams. I did not win a trophy but came in a close second in horseshoes! I made the quarter finals in Crib and Euchre and was out of Backgammon early. I did not play Foozeball or Darts. I loved the young kids running through the fields and playing tag and hide and seek. It brought back great memories. There was lots of jamming in the evenings including the 4 year old who edged his mom and her saw off the stage so he could play guitar with the band. So darn cute!
