I don't see much reason to continue a diet and go back to eating like I was before. None of my type 2 diabetes symptoms have abated or even lessened.
248.2 lb Lost so far: 6.8 lb.    Still to go: 17.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 2.3 lb a week

Please understand that I am not a nutrition expert and perhaps someone on this site could help you better BUT I have learned to better control my blood sugar numbers with the Atkins diet. I took the liberty of looking at your intake and I am not sure if you aren't eating too much protein. I have been told that excess protein will in fact convert to sugar and raise blood sugar. I try to keep my protein to under 30 grams a day. Not saying that I have this wonderful formula for weight loss and diabetes but if I keep my carbs under 10%, fat at 60% and protein under 30% my blood sugar numbers take a good nose dive and have often been clearly in the normal range. I also find that when I include more veggies and water in my diet that I get better results. I commend you on your exercise as I am weak in that area. You can do this. I didn't want to go the insulin route so have worked at Atkins and it has been a godsend. You may want to do a bit of research about the protein theory. Good luck and don't give up....you can do this.

Getting to a healthy weight is important for longevity. Maybe find a nutritionist who can help you tweak your diet to see results. There is also a great magazine with awesome recipes for diabetics. Exercise is also important (if you are able).

yes, too much protein does, in fact, convert to glucose in your body. i took a peek at your food diary, devilfish, and you are eating a lot of protein. atkins is high fat, moderate protein, low carb so your fat should be higher than your protein. perhaps following a HFLC diet (like atkins) will improve your diabetes as it does for many, or perhaps another diet would work better for you? only you know, but whatever way of eating you intend to follow, be sure you research it so you are able to follow it correctly. if you want to stick with atkins, read the book. and there are lots of great resources (and people) here and on the atkins site to help you. good luck with finding the right path for you!
