D lady's Journal, 16 January 2021

busy mom. I've been on this rollercoaster health journey for 24 years. I've been down to 13% body fat and up to 34% bodyfat. At this stage in my journey I know my body, it likes to pack on muscle before I shed fat. I usually weigh more than other woman my height because of that. I have also learned to like the body God gave me, instead of comparing myself to a perfect ideal. It helps to limit my exposure to perfect, super body images in media and to surround myself with people who love me and encourage me. I enjoy lifting weights, hiking and walking. I battle arthritis, so movement is essential. when I started counting calories this month, I realized thst I had been unknowingly consuming about 3000 calories a day! My current 1900 calorie boundary is freeing and effective. I'm feeling so much happier and healthier already. I like to add foods to my diary before I eat them so I can make better choices about the portions and kinds of food I eat. Like a financial budget, a calorie budget is most helpful if you consult it before you make those choices, instead of just feeling guilty afterward. Good things take time. The process is the purpose. Failure isn't an ending, it's a turning point on the way to success.

It's definitely eye opening when you realize how many calories you've been eating in a day once you really examine it. I was easily doing 3000+ a day too! Now I'm maintaining at 2100 and my body seems to be good with that. It sounds like you have a solid plan - good luck!
