This morning I played around with some calorie calculators, and have mixed feelings. I’ve been doing ok at 1500 calories per day, with some days going up to 1600, but I haven’t really felt like I’ve been majorly depriving myself. But then again, I also haven’t been losing as quickly as I’d hoped.
Most of the calorie calculators say that I should be at 1200-1350 calories a day to lose about 2 pounds per week. I know that I can’t go down to 1200 right now, because I’m not ready to face that much limitation again. The last time I tried to eat at 1200 for months, I ended up with disordered eating patterns. Is it possible to eat only 1200 a day and be healthy? For some people, yes. But I need to ease into it.
I lowered my calorie count to 1400 a day, and we’ll see how that goes. I’m hoping that it’s enough to see results without feeling like I can’t cook anything or need to OMAD. Nothing wrong with that, just not for me right now.
