Zchefdonna's Journal, 03 September 2019

Just found this site 9 days ago and joined as my weight loss on my own was SLOW. Have measured, weighed and logged every item that crossed my lips and averaged 52.6% of the calories recommended for weight loss (about 1400). Still have lost only 2.3 lbs in 9 days. I have dieted in the past and was always successful, but this time is tough. Hubby and I always lost lb for lb in the past when we dieted together, but overall he has lost a total of 21 lbs to my 12 and he is eating lots more and drinking wine and eating snacks. Anyone else have a problem similar? Solution??
199.4 lb Lost so far: 11.6 lb.    Still to go: 59.4 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I always believed that men usually lose much faster. they usually burn more calories because of their muscle-mass.

I’m really struggling but if Journal everything then I can see What I have. But I am still need to portion and be consistent and I am struggling with that. And hubby and I don’t do it together so that makes it very hard.

I'm possibly confused- are you saying you are only eating 1/2 (52.6%) of 1400 calories because you will actually lose faster if you are eating the proper amount. Your food diary is too few calories. 2.3 pounds is great for 9 days. I am not suggesting it isn't- but unless you are not recording all that you are eating, you need to up the caloric intake.

I had the same issue for a while, found out I wasn’t eating often enough to keep my metabolism going all day. I found that eating many small meals took the weight off faster. Hope that helps!

Your husband assumably has more muscle than you do. It is muscle that burns the most calories. You can’t compare your weight loss to his—- apples to oranges.

My husband started losing weight before I went back on my program cutting back & logging in to FS again in July. Now he eats pretty much what I do for breakfast & dinner because I prepare those meals for us. He actually gets slightly fewer calories in the AM cause he does black coffee & I add creamer to mine. I eat a light lunch but he usually eats more...a sandwich or leftovers. Plus he eats more snacks than I do and can drink more wine or cocktails than I. He still is able to keep the weight off. 😐 Just life I guess.

I too just found this site. Gained 20 lbs when several deaths in family. Never had trouble losing before but this time have dieted like crazy, been exercising like mad and lose a lb and gain it back. Sooo frustrated. Ready to quit till I found this site. Hope I can get help here. I am a very active 67 year old tired of extra weight. Help!!

Beary... I bust my butt in the gym daily and I've lost 50 so far. You can do way more than walk. Resistance training is so beneficial. Any added weight from muscle repair is insignificant compared to the health benefits. And it doesn't stick around. Muscle mass burns more calories, too allowing you to eat a little more and feel good. You can do it!

Yeah, temporarily it may affect weight loss. Good thing not all weight loss is a good thing. A lack of resistance training will result in lean mass loss and that will work against fat loss, the thing we really want. Lean mass loss will result in a slowed metabolism and a weaker more frail body that will work against maintaining the fat loss. It will also affect quality of life as you age.
