💥 Five years 💥 since I started on this journey to lose weight & get healthier! Initially, it was all vanity....lose 10 lbs. to look better on a beach trip coming up in a month. After my trip, I decided to continue on with the weight loss attempt, eventually meeting several goals. I've been maintaining a 35-40 lb. (fluctuations) loss for a couple of years. Weight loss led to this very un-athletic girl joining a Gym & starting a routine of working out 3 times a week. I do an average of 3 hours of treadmill, stretching, yoga, mat exercises, free weights & weight machines.
In the process of my setting out on this journey, Hubby joined me....losing about 35-40 lbs. himself. He's my partner in crime @ the Gym. He turned 81 yesterday & you'd never guess his age. We're coming up on our 2 year anniversary since we joined the Gym.
I still eat foods some consider taboo, but I've learned to manage my intake so that the calories stay in line. I've had fun experimenting with cooking to create recipes that are healthier & still tasty.
If someone had told me that at 68 (almost 69), I'd be the lightest weight since my late 30's-early 40's & regularly working out, I never would have believed them! I'm excited to see what the next 5 years brings!
If you're just starting out on your journey or somewhere along in the process, keep the faith. It is possible to be successful...no matter what your age or how much you need to lose. Embrace that this is a new lifestyle & take it one day at a time.
