RobHendershot's Journal, 16 August 2024

8 months today 102lbs lost; still 12lbs to go to get to get to onederland; even with the second dose of prednisone on board, still managed to get a loss this week. Had breakfast with father in law and a family friend this morning and couldn’t finish my breakfast. Guessing the prednisone is curbing my appetite.

Rob, you could be like me when I take that steroid I actually lose weight. I know when I was in the hospital and then the supplement month afterward when they kept me on high dose steroids about 1000 mg a day I was very concerned about gaining weight and then we found out that apparently I wanted the random people that loses weight on certain steroids. So apparently although most people gain weight on prednisone not everybody does 🤔🤷. Actually I found that I have to be very careful about any kind of medications they give me cuz I often will have adverse or alternative reactions to what the norm is or I'll have weird side effects that don't seem to make sense for the normal population. As a result I always try to go with the lowest dose of any medication possible regardless of Dr my recommendations because I found in the past that it can come to very severe consequences if I'm not careful.

Thanks for the fabulous and encouraging comments here and thanks to those that have supported me and this community is an extended family for me. Just a PSA: In a community like this their is growing pains and hurt feelings sometimes, but we need to remember that we all go through trials and hardships; so rather than beating each other up verbally; we should encourage them that are struggling. That’s my two cents for the day.

FWYTYK; thanks for your support and encouragement. I am doing a little better but the more I try to do things with this illness the worse I tend to feel. I’m currently taking both prednisone and an antibiotic and it helps to a point. Kids at home are sick and it creates a ripple effect but this to shall pass.

You’re welcome! Glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Hopefully it will pass quickly so you can start feeling like yourself again and hopefully the kids get better soon as well. Being sick or injured sucks and it does indeed create a ripple effect when it happens. Take Care Rob!
