The story so far... So back in October, I finally made it to the diabetes doctor and had my blood sugar tested. It was shockingly high. The doctor put me on some meds and I decided I needed to get serious about losing weight. I jumped back on the SlimFast diet, but stopped using the SlimFast products since they seem to be awfully high in sugar. I was quite vigilant, and initially lost seven pounds over a couple of weeks, but after another three weeks, I had only lost one more pound. At that point I decided to give Atkins another try. Again, I was very careful about keeping my carbs down, but still only lost two pounds over the next month. At that point my motivation started to slip and I didn't keep to either plan. In January I started back at the gym two or three times a week, so I was finally getting a good amount of exercise, but not sticking to a diet. Happily I didn't gain more than a few pounds over the next two months. Finally in March I managed to get the Atkins diet and my exercise routine coordinated and immediately started losing weight at a steady pace. I'm down over 12 pounds so far this month. I'm feeling very positive. I haven't even been tempted to cheat this month and I've only missed two chances to get to the gym. I go to the doctor on Thursday, so I'm hoping my numbers are much improved. Peach blossoms are out and cherry blossoms are on the way. Life is good.
