Rochelle Pasco's Journal, 01 May 2019

I haven't been on this site in some time. I did well with losing weight in 2017, and keeping it off for the most part (maintaining 150-155). I followed a low carb (less than 50 g of carbs per day) and low calorie (less than 1200) diet. When I got closer to my goal I started introducing some food back into my diet. A while later I started to feel bad, heartburn and sluggish. Went through some tests (ultrasound of stomach, gall bladder) I do have a hiatal hernia. I also have food allergies which are causing problems. I am allergic to wheat and a lesser extent milk, eggs and corn. This is a problem for me because I relied on eggs and cheese when I lost weight. Now I have to learn to eat differently. I have found things at the local grocery that I can substitute for what I liked (gluten free, soy products, almond products etc.) I am mad (mad in general, not at anyone...more myself that my body has done that at this point) that I have to do this and figure out a whole new way of eating. Before I focused on the things that I could eat that were low carb. Now I can no longer enjoy some of those things. I want to go back on some kind of program that I can stick to and get down to that 130 goal. Not sure that low carb will work now. Once again I need to focus on the things I can eat, but it's different than before.

If you have food allergies/sensitivities, you may consider the Whole 30. On the plus side, it allows you to eat fruit where low carb limited fruit. Best of luck!

I'm an allergic person to Rochelle it was adult onset. I carry an epipen now. You can find a way you will feel better once you get those allergens out of your system. Food substitutes are your friend. Now more than ever there are so many things that can be done. Use the internet to find good recipes. There are even cake recipes that don't have eggs.

If you want to try low carb I think you still can. Milk, cheese and eggs are not necessary at all. I mostly eat meat, fish and veggies. Some chocolate and peanut butter. Most important will be to think about what will work for you long term.
