I am not sure if i am still losing water or not. I did notice I have some pretty big calorie deficits so maybe that's it and my metabolism has finally kicked in. Am thinking of getting those keto test strips. Any suggestions you lchf peeps?

When I've done keto in the past, I didn't use the strips (lazy) but I had definite....aromatic indicators. I had to shower 2-3x a day because I smelled like nail polish remover if I got the least bit sweaty, and pee with a window open! If you do decide to test with strips, I'm definitely interested in hearing how you feel about them as a tool.

I have used the keto strips - and it always tells me low ketones...some folks get way in to it and do blood testing...it is expensive. If the scale is moving down, then I am burning fat so I am happy enough. Good loss! it is working!

i've used keto sticks for a few years. the new atkins doesn't recommend them, but i find that they help me keep motivated. i want to see that pink/purple that tells me i was good yesterday! i normally register light to moderate ketones. they can get a bit expensive, but i buy the pharmacy store brand then cut them in half.

I use the sticks, but not necessarily every day. If I tried something new the day before or went over my target carbs, it is a quick check to see how much difference it made. I rarely get over the moderate level on the new Atkins 20. Normally it's a trace or small. The original Atkins diet was much lower in carbs during induction, so the sticks were usually darker. I think it's easier to stay with this version, and there is much less guilt if you slip a bit.
I'd get them at first to help you know how your body is going to respond to carbs. After a few days, you will wake up with that ketosis taste in your mouth, which is almost as good as the sticks. I think the purple stick is a great motivator, though.
