Ten days until I start chemotherapy and radiation.
I'm adding congee and organic chicken bone broth.
Congee is simple: 1 part long-grain brown rice to 7 parts water cooked in a crock pot on low for 14-16 hours. This ensures that the rice is completely broken down into a thin porridge. When thoroughly cooked in this way, the nutrients are more readily available. This can be combined with sweet or savory ingredients.
Since chemotherapy and radiation both suppress bone marrow, I'll add the organic chicken bone broth to the congee and add some green leafy vegetables (Swiss chard, spinach, turnip greens and maybe a little tofu).
I'd like to add this to my diet for the week leading up to the treatment.
