Beginning day 4 of my fast. Down 5 lbs from (unrecorded) start weight. I've been allowing myself some bone broth on this fast. Yesterday, I had some chicken soup with the solids strained out and it knocked me out of ketosis (from 2.6 to .o4) but I'm back up to 1.2 this morning. I've got a batch of beef marrow bones stewing now, so I think I'll stick to that. After day 2 there's very little hunger, and the higher the ketones the more energy from burning fat. The weather here has been cold with highs in the 20's and breezy, but I've been out for a daily 2 mile -brisk!- walk.

Happy day 4, How weird that the soup knocked you out... could not have been many carbs there. Lucky you on the marrow.... I love that stuff

How do you check your ketones?

Thanks for your support MattRide! Buenita ~ I have a ketone and glucose meter. It uses a finger prick to get a blood sample, then analyses the blood for glucose and ketones. As glucose goes down, ketones go up. Ketones are produced during fat metabolism. Once you are running on ketones, you no longer get much hunger and your energy is very stable. My meter is called 'Keto Mojo'. You can price it on Amazon.
