I'm shocked I lost weight. I was so bad this week but I did try to avoid carbohydrates. I had a lot of sweets instead, Easter week what else can I say.
I had a conversation with a cousin, who is a type 1 diabetic, last week about watching carb intake and how carbs put weight on. Hearing it from him really it home. I'm still not on any particular plan yet but will continue to watch what I eat, especially carbs, and my portions. It seems to be working for me, after all, I have lost almost 10 lbs in 2 months. It could have been more but I had 3 weeks where I was bad and I gained. I really have to watch those bad weeks. Hopefully, with my new attitude towards carbs, those weeks won't happen again. 🙏🙏🙏

Hi Jean, Type I diabetes is very different than Type 2. T2Ds make too much insulin, and eventually their bodies become insensitive, and ultimately can't keep up. What dietary advice are you getting?

He just said that carbs put on weight and I should watch my carb intake. So I'm taking that advice, trying to be good about my food choices (sticking with proteins and veggies) and watching my portions. I'm not doing any kind of strict diet, just trying to eat better than I had been in the past. It's seems to be working for me so far.

Hi Jean, that's good advice and a good plan. I am T2D also and used the keto diet to bring my A1c back to normal.

carbs don't put on weight, Calorie surplus does, you need to watch your calorie intake.

Keilin_4, are you T2D? I am; and I find carbs cause me extra inflammation which adds water weight - your experience may be different. And yes, a calorie deficit is necessary to lose weight.
