SherryeB's Journal, 21 June 2024

I've been busy settling back into my routine after a wonderful week away with my sisters. I was happy with my eating while on vacation. I did allow a few more treats, but more often than not, I stuck to my WOE I have at home. Adult beverages were limited to evening hours, desserts were often my 100ish calorie Italian Ices & I had seafood several times. I didn't "work out" but hauling our stuff down & back to the beach burned a few calories. Playing in the waves also is a bit of a leg workout...trying to stay in the general vicinity of our condo required lots of kicking & paddling to avoid being washed down the beach. We did do one long walk on the beach & walked to one of the shops to buy some floats & large beachy mugs one day.

Since I've been home I've been working in the garden a lot. I transplanted a bunch of Creeping Ginny & some Vinca from the area we're trying to grow actual grass. We got it tilled up & seeded this week. Hubby bought some matting to cover the area & prevent the seed from being washed away in a heavy rain. We layed that yesterday....need anither roll to finish it off. After weeks of rain, we've had a span of hot, sunny days. So far this year, my diligence in keeping the plants sprayed with deer repellant has paid off. They have left my blooming Daylillies alone & I even got to enjoy the Asian lillies. I haven't seen a lot of deer recently, but we have spotted one Doe with her Fawn several times this past week. The Fawn is still quite small, so Mama is keeping her safe in the wooded areas around us.

After a week off, we got back to the Gym. To stay on schedule, we even chose to work out on our Anniversary & have our celebratory meal the next night. I eased back in, but I feel like I didn't really lose much strength by taking a break.

Our little Yorkie, Teddy has not been doing great 😕 He is older & has a multitude of health issues. He is blind (cataracts), has dementia, a heart murmur, cronic pancreatitis. We are managing his problems with medication & he wears a belly band 24/7 now to avoid accidents in the house. But, we fear he is nearing the end. It is so hard to know when it is time to let him go for his sake & not keep him for ours. 💔

My sleep schedule seems to have changed since vacation. I've been getting up earlier than usual since I've been home. It started while I was away. That makes me fall asleep earlier at night. Not a bad thing... I still get around 8 hours of sleep. It's actually nice to have some extra time before it gets really hot for the day.

Gym planned today...then rest days for the weekend. That may not be actual rest days if I end up working in the garden 🌻🌱🧤

Wow, you certainly have packed a lot in. Sounds like you really needed that time away. Sorry to hear about Teddy. We went through that most recently in April. I feel like he'll let you know when he's done, or when his body just won't cooperate anymore. Sorry for what he and you are going through, there's never a good time to say goodbye.
