This an absolutely true "truism". "When one cuts up wood, it keeps them warm during the winter, and it keeps them warm when cutting it". But this is not cooler autumn or early spring weather right now. The summer is upon us and the temps have been 90+ degrees while cutting up these 2 trees. Hot enough that I've felt like one of the dogs in August, and just want to curl up and not do anything. However, hot as it may be, this chore is helping with my exercises. I keep water nearby and drink it as much as possible. It also keeps my back and legs loose for exercises and for playing golf,...a major help.

Speaking of golf, last Tuesday I was playing golf at a course near Nashville that runs through the hills & bluffs and also down in the valley. I was on the 4th hole near the green, and was admiring the bluff view looking straight down about 100 feet to a larger stream. There, next to the stream, was an adult female deer standing next to the stream drinking the water. Wish I had had my camera with me. She was peaceful and probably did not know I was there. I continued to watch her, and finally came back to golf reality to hit my next shot. Nature is so beautiful. And BTW, if you are, at all, interested,..I shot a 77. Maybe the deer and the peaceful time had something to do with it.

Everyone continue to have a great week, and be focused, keep exercising, and losing / maintaining your weight. God is good !!

We have cut down a bunch of big trees but have not gotten rid of them yet. Too much work for hubby with cancer. Someone would have to split them up to get them out of here if they wanted them.

MorticiaAddams, I am taking my time with this, although one of my sons-in-law will be helping me during the 4th of July week. Also, as you know well, trees tend to shed all year long, but especially in the winter. I have a ton of dead limbs to pick up from the trees in the acres that are wooded.

Nice! Be safe while chopping them trees. Glad it’s helping keeping you limber and fit for golf. My uncle loves golf and I recently have been asking him questions to understand it more. 😅 Once he starts talking about it, he doesn’t quit. How cool you were able to catch that glimpse of the doe. I can see how nature can be quite entertaining while on the course. Most golf courses have gorgeous views. Nice score too btw.

That sounds like a gift from above. I don’t know why but wildlife always makes my heart happier. We own 1.5 acres that abuts a forest. There are 10 houses in this community that are all on 1-2 acres we are the only ones not built and were speaking with one of those neighbors a few days ago wherein i mentioned i saw a herd of deer at the stream (wetland portion in front of our lot) and he replied, “oh yes, we also get many elk thru here as well). Made me smile just imagining it. Not great for landscaping perhaps but all the yards are pretty so maybe they content themselves with the wetland foliage and the stream. If we do end up building down there i would love that.

Yearofhealth2023, we also see quite a few deer on our property, but of course we do not have a 100 foot bluff down to a creek. It just seems so peaceful down in that little "hollar". This past winter we had a mama deer with her 3 babies. I didn't know they could have that many at one time. Maybe she adopted a few. We have pics of her nursing all 3 at one time in our yard just in the wood line. That same day on the golf course I also saw a groundhog skirting one of the fairways, and when we came near on the cart path, he went running into the woods. We have had families of foxes, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and armadillos over the years dwell on the wooded piece of our property. Beautiful animals.

Neicy, thank you, yes I do try to be safe when cutting trees. Most of my work is done on trees that are already down. Any large trees that need to come down are handed over to the professionals. Golf has been my main sport for many (MANY) years. I injured my shoulder in HS playing baseball, and had to quit playing competitively. So, I went to golf, and have been very fortunate to play for so many years.

Diana1234,...me too. We have been fortunate these last 20 years to live on our property with so much wild life available.

Glad to hear you take precautions with the trees. Wow! It’s funny you say that. My uncle played basketball and baseball in high school who also has a shoulder injury that doesn’t allow him to play those sports. Thankfully he is still able to play golf.
