Most likely just water weight, as this is only the end of the first week of my weight loss journey. But still very happy to see a healthy amount come off to begin! 🥰

If anyone’s curious, my calorie cap is 1700 calories a day, but I’m usually eating about 1600. Still eating all the things I enjoy, but with less snacking, healthier alternatives and smaller portions. Supplementing this with 30 minute dog walks and the 30 minute walk to work. Planning on starting the gym again this week, but very nervous! Haven’t been in over a year. Thinking of just using the treadmill whilst I get used to being there again, and then getting back on the weightlifting once I feel comfortable. See how it goes!
147.0 lb Lost so far: 2.2 lb.    Still to go: 12.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

I have used many different gyms over the years and I usually do just that. I plonk myself on the bike and observe to begin with. Sussing out where the kit is, who is there, what the vibe is, where the mats are etc. BTW even after 40 years I still get nervous first time in a new gym/pool.

Hi Joanne may answer your question if Alix doesn't mind , you don't have to consume all your calories and you can set your RDI calorie intake independently, hope this help Paul? Sorry Alix for being presumptuous.

Mine is set at 2300 I agree with chestnut yesterday I used exactly 1000 sometimes 1200 but I’m never going to use 2300 I would put on weight every week

Razor the main thing is that you burn more calories than you consume CICO

Thanks Ray and Chessnut for answering the question. Sorry, I’ve only just gotten to my phone today! To lose weight, you need to be in a calorie deficit, and your calories should be 300-500 less than your maintenance calories so that you’re losing weight healthily. My maintenance is 2000, so I’ve set mine at 1700 so I can still enjoy food whilst losing weight gradually. You don’t have to consume all of your calories though! But be careful of consuming too little calories - could cause serious health risks if you’re eating less than 1300 as that’s going into what a young child eats daily. Also, most people who consume a very small amount of calories to lose weight end up putting all the weight back on and more when they return to their maintenance after they’ve achieved their weight goal - this is because of how our metabolism works. Hope that helps! 🥰

Make sure you do exercise though because when I dieted in 2018 in 6 months I lost 20kg but didn’t exercise so I lost to much protein and family members told me how bad I looked and was too thin but that wasn’t the case once I built up muscle again I was told I looked better but had lost more weight

Thanks for the advice! Making sure I’m eating high amounts of protein and walking every day at the moment. Promising myself to start the gym by the end of the week. Just got my membership!
