Lesson learned; turn stress into success!
Stress; work. Success; vacation.
Stress; house. Success; clean.
Stress; money. Success; budget.
Stress; weight. Success; work out.
Stress; food. Success; meal plan.
That has been my entire week. Ruminating on my life, and taking small steps towards reaching an overall goal of healthy mind, healthy body, healthy life.
Now, if my Son would get a job, that'd be greaaat.

ps. No stress, but drink more water!

No real movement yesterday. But that's okay, I excelled elsewhere!
Volunteering my time for the local Humane Society. =)
I set up and manned a donation table at the local Petco, alone. Previous efforts with other volunteers at the table were not as fruitful as they were yesterday. I don't know if it was my sunny personality, my cute table set up, or if people were just in a more giving mood. Whatever the reason, I am proud to represent the 100's of animals the shelter cares for if even for a $1 donation.
That said, I collected $16, a bag of kitten food and two cans of wet cat food. I know it doesn't seem like much, but considering the previous two times resulted in zero donations, I was quite impressed with myself.
And actually, there WAS a level of activity involved. Setting up and breaking down the table, cleaning the cat kennels (read scoopin poop), and generally walking around chatting with people about adoption, I was sweating. And boy was I sweating, having been blessed with a hereditary "sweaty head", the 90° heat coupled with 90% humidity, and probably some menopausal heat flashing, I'm pretty certain I looked like a short, round, human strawberry with pigtails.
BUT I GOT $16 THOUGH! #AdoptDontShop

I'll take it. A pound is a pound.
I mean, it's not like spent 35 minutes on the treadmill that's sounds like a cheap motel's bedsprings at 2am. Watching a "nature" walk video that I could only assume was made by a man in the same shape as I. It was occasionally punctuated by some heavy breathing and coughing. So with the volume at 90, the pounding of my feet, and the squeaking of the treadmill, I can only imagine what my downstairs neighbor that I was doing at 4:30 in the afternoon.
Can't wait to do it again today! ;-)

I used to look in the mirror and think I had body dysmorphic disorder, but then I stepped on the scale and realized I was just fat. ;-)

This seems a bit much for one day, but thru an intense water to fiber to protein to exercise ratio, I was able to cleanse my body very thoroughly. Quite honestly, it was a relief.
For the first time in weeks, I did not feel the painful, bloated, gassy effects on my body that I've been heading to bed with each night. And this morning my mid section, cos I really dislike the word tummy/stomach/etc, was noticeably less distended as well.
The only drawback is a bit of a headache as I move away from my favorite (read addicted to) coffee, Splenda, non dairy creamer routine that I am accostomed to. I have traded it in for 8oz of chilled water and a cup of green tea with no sweetener or milk.
Next, I am tackling a bit more exercise for my day. It's hard to believe looking in the mirror that I once ran 6 miles in the morning, walked at lunch, did an hour of Step training every night at 7pm, yoga on weekends, and still went to church. Even more so to comprehend is, that I did all that while still being a smoker and a drinker.
But this is not then, and I need to get back on that path of health and well being. Not just for the physical changes I will see, but for the overall benefits this will have on the quality and longevity of my life.
