I have to take meds with pills too. I hope you improve soon.

Thanks Morticia. I usually take Ibuprofen only at night when my leg/knee hurts the most. Since I normally stop eating around 2pm I have to have something to eat with the pill. I had been having a couple olives but don't think that helps much.

Remember that you are taking the ibuprophen for its anti inflammatory properties as much as for pain.. you might also consider Epsom salt soaks. And you can take Tylenol along with ibuprophen if needed.

Have you tried icy hot roll on? That’s been helping me with hip pain and makes it manageable to go on a long walk

We have been using “That Stuff For Pain” spray. My wife watched a string of elderly ladies purchase it from a display on the checkout counter of our local Ace hardware. Curiosity got the best of her, and she brought a bottle home that we have been using and recomending ever since

Thanks Kenna, Sternfan, and Grandpa Burt. I haven't seen icy hot roll on or the stuff for pain. I take Ibuprofen 800 once or twice a day. I do have some kind of roll on but it's messy and doesn't do much. I'll look around when I got to the pharmacy. I have just a constant ache when resting and some pain if I step wrong when I up and moving around.

I got the icy hot roll on from Target. It will dry after a few mins and not be so gross

Do you track protein? Bodybuilders lose weight by doing high protein while cutting the carbs and fat. Something like that worked for me, but your mileage may vary. Good luck!

Thanks Phil. I do track protein and aim for 60 grams a day although I'm okay if it's only 40 or so. I eat very little meat . I might have chicken 2 or 3 times a week and a tuna sandwich once in awhile. Most of my protein comes from dairy, nuts, seeds, and sometimes beans. My doctor says no protein drinks, powders, etc.

Voltaren is an anti-inflammatory rub you can use for pain. It can be substituted for oral meds. I also used the Icey Hot when I had pain in my shoulder & hip.

Thanks Sternfan and Sherry. I'll look for icy hot and Voltaren next time I'm in the pharmacy. I remember my parents used to use Ben Gay and Deep Heat. Right now the pain isn't bad. I may actually be healing a little. Staying off my feet, although boring, seems to be helping and so is the compression sleeve.
