Trust me I'm struggling with dieting right now I've reached that point where it's just pure vanity weight and it becomes very hard. Over the past couple weeks I've leaned out a bunch and even half a lb makes a huge difference in what you look like at this point but it's slow to come off and you are really hungry. I didn't get this lean at all last year but figured why not look extra good for our upcoming vacation 🤣 all the family get togethers and cubscout events (another one today) have made it even harder but I've been trying a new approach. I'm cutting calories pretty hard 4 to 5 days a week then doing 2 days around maintenance then back to cutting pretty hard. The only set back has been some days where I clearly go above maintenance but even those haven't been too too crazy.

But every day I question if I even want to keep going and some days If I'm really hungry I'll just eat more than I planned and only end in like. 200 cal deficit. The hotter it gets and the more exhausted I get if it's an oncall week the more I eat so making progress has been a snails pace but it is what it is.

I've struggled with the whole dieting thing in recent months. Mostly just reached the "I don't wanna" stage. In part, I had other priorities I needed to focus on. It really boils down to what your goals are and whether it's worth it. What is your why? I'm beyond vanity at this point, but I don't want weight to drag me down during the activities I love, don't want to blow out my knees, and would like to have both a long lifespan and a long healthspan. As always, OTB, I wish you well 😊

Writingwyo I think it's normal to go through stages with weight loss and maintenance. Last year I also got lax during my maintenance stage and ended up gaining some fat back and even lost some muscle at the same time it was a big bummer so I figure even if I let myself have some high calorie days and then have some defecit days in between then I can still maintain where I'm at and possibly get a little leaner just super slowly. I don't even know if I'm dping the bulk thing again and i know if do it will be a much slower and smaller surplus. Always learning always experimenting.

Have to enjoy life and food too being completely obsessive about calories, macros, sugar, exercise, etc is enough to drive anyone to an unhealthy place

Dr. Yoni Freedhoff talks about "happy weight" -- the healthiest weight you can achieve without driving yourself bonkers. When I heard "nothing tastes better than skinny feels," I thought, seriously? Have you ever even TASTED pecan pie??? 🤣🤣 Granted, pecan pie is a once or twice a year occasion for me, but yes, you have to enjoy food and life some!

haha mmmm pecan pie 🥧 😋 the plus for me is the lighter I am the less we9ght I have to drag up the mountain and carry across hanging obstacles during Spartans. and the less weight on my joints doing it too. strength to weight ratio is really the most important measure for my goals. there's plenty of increadibly lean and muscular people at these events that can't run to save their lives and can barely make it across the hanging obstacles because they are too heavy to do it.

Did you do anything else when you were up here besides the race and getting stuck in our famously horrific traffic? Wondering if you stopped anywhere for a slice after that grueling experience.

These are some really great pointers. I too have been in the ‘who cares’ category lately. Yet, I do care about being able to do the activities I love. Seeing my mother get winded and tired by just playing catch with a bouncy ball was more reason enough for me to make conscious decisions about my own choices. And who doesn’t love pecan pie? Mmmm 😋

Neicy - my mother had mobility issues, even at my age, and had to use a walker for many years before her death. It's a point of pride for me that I can still squat to pee in the woods and get up again... on cross-country skis. I want to retain that as LONG as possible. No guarantees in this life, but I'll do what I can. And I'm glad to see more pecan pie fans on this thread 😂

OMG, Writingwyo, we used to live miles from nothing, and on one of our first dates we were at the lake and I took a nature break. BF said that’s what did it. I was no muss, no fuss and get on with life when you’re having fun. We’re still together. LOL

Ao we can all agree on pecan pie and peeing in the woods are good things 🤣🤣 my daughter thinks she can peeing anywhere I have to remind her she at least needs to go alittle bit in the woods and out of sight 🤣
