Not good. Had a few beers for my birthday, fell off my LCHF train, stopped recording food and gained three pounds. The only positive asterisk is that I've also returned to pushups and weight lifting, and I had a few protein shakes, so I'd guess that half of my gain is muscle. Certainly feels / looks that way. All I need to do is getting the eating back on track and record my food, and the new muscle should burn more calories, right? Here's hoping...

Wow. I thought calories didn't count on birthdays and Christmas - that's the way I live my life anyway :-) Not a biggie really hey? A few pounds gain, part of which you can contribute to another positive step that you're taking. Onwards and upwards (downwards)!

Thanks, Justine! During times like these, you always help to talk me off the ledge with your rational optimism.

I have found that the great thing about LCHF is when getting strictly back on it doesn't take long to get things moving in the right direction again. Lots of times it is bloat weight that comes right off!

Not a thing in the world wrong with a Birthday skid, Happy Birthday! Getting back on the horse is the most important part, stay consistent and you'll be right where you want to be in no time.

That's encouraging, Rckc. I just have to reapply myself, and in a few days, things should swing back around.

Thanks, Jenny. It feels good. I'm not doing a ton, just five sets of pushups one day, then ten or fifteen minutes of lifting the next, but my muscles wake up easily. I'm lucky that way, and it's inspiring to feel change so quickly. It's like getting paid at the end of every workday rather than having to wait a couple of weeks.

Thanks, Philmck. I know you're right. Looking forward to getting back into the groove. I really like your idea of starting each meal with some protein and hot sauce. That's smart and would probably work well for me.

Muscle memory is a godsend! It's still awesome It that you're strength training at all. You will probably end up wanting to do more as your endurance builds (gosh, I should be saying this to myself!). If you get to the point to where you really get into it, Beast Body is an AMAZING workout.

Birthday is an acceptable day to let loose, in my opinion- just as long as you get back to doing what you know is necessary, such as recording. May you enjoy unwrapping a most precious gift of a brand new year- all your own!

Hey John, great to see you're back!! Sometimes the fight to keeping fit and the fat off requires a small retreat in order to regroup to fight the bigger long term battle (like how I used some boxing terms in there). Take care mate, we're all with you!!!!
