Low calorie intake this week result of self-induced stomach ailment from a slightly undercooked piece of fish. Probably listeria but don‘t know 100%. Atleast my wife and daughter were spared. Digestive functions returning to normal.

Listeria 😬 Scary! Chilled Salmon salad is a summer fav. and in this heatwave I may not be as careful as usual. Thanks for adding the notation. Very glad you're feeling better Sk and family weren't affected.

I just experienced the bad fish thing a few weeks ago. My lips went numb and got really swollen about twenty minutes after eating. Interesting experience I do not care to repeat. Fish did not smell or anything that would have given it away. I just figured luck of the draw.

What kind of fish Kat? Cooking a wee bit longer would have solved my problem.

Mine was tuna. Surprise! Even stranger is that it was a night where I cooked it more than just a sear. It’s called scromboid/histamine fish poisoning and happens from time to time. When I realized I was having an allergic reaction, I popped two Benadryl and then texted my friend to find out if I should call 911 or go to ER because it was the weekend, of course. At the end of the day, I was fine. Drank a ton of sparkling water and ate a huge bowl of cereal to try and mitigate some of the reaction. Don’t know if that’s what kept me relatively symptom free, but I didn’t have any of the more unpleasant side effects.

Does anybody have the same reaction when they go to eat in a restaurant? your nose gets all plugged up and then it may run for a little bit & you have to blow it. then it's so plugged up you couldn't blow if you wanted to. then your throat gets all clogged up too with drainage (post nasal drip possibly).
sometimes I think it's the food that I might eat, or could it be something in the restaurant, or some perfume or aftershave somebody might have one (whom I'm not even sitting close to)?

Sounds more like the HVAC system and/or poorly filtered water @lydium.
