LIFE HAPPENS

Long day on Monday, frustrating, and it's just part of life. We needed to pay for our dental insurance carrier and used our debit card. It was denied. So, Amex was used. Then went to Walmart, and the same thing happened. Do y'all know how frustrating and embarrassing that is when it happens? So, after getting home, I called the bank and let them know what happened since I knew there was substantially more $$$ in the account than would have been needed to cover those 2 purchases. The C/S person told me they had a "computer glitch" that involved all of their debit card customers, but that it had now been fixed. The 2nd instance had only happened 20 minutes previously, but she was adamant it was fixed. The card has not been used since then, but my wife and I still have questions.

In the meantime,...when I got home from Walmart there was water on our concrete driveway pad outside my wife's garage, and I thought she had been watering some plants and there was some drainage. NOPE !! The garage door was opened, and the water heater had exploded. Water was all over the floor, seeping into our mother-in-law apartment in the basement, and pouring from the cold water side of the water heater. It took several hours to clean up this mess. I am sure many of my FS friends have been through this situation. My wife filled several jugs of water from the kitchen sink, and that is what we used through this A.M.

Life happens.

On a much brighter side,...I had over 18000 steps, burnt almost 4200 calories, lost a full pound, and had a wonderful 8+ hours of sleep last night. The water heater is to be replaced today, and I am about to get on the the recumbent bike for 80 minutes.

Everyone have a bright and wonderful Tuesday. God is good !!

What a doozy of a day!

Wow! I've had several go out but never had one explode like that. Tuff day! Nearly 20 years ago I replumbed the house and put in two hot water heaters with one at each end of the house and a line between them that has a valve so just one can supply the whole house if the other goes out. I sat each of them next to a floor drain and a sump-pump. Also plumbed the sumps together. One pump is electric and the other is hydraulic from city water pressure in case the electricity goes out. My mother and my sister had both gotten flooded and I didn't want that to happen to me. I also didn't want to have cold showers while waiting for a new water heater when one went out. Now that four of six of my children have moved out, I'm thinking it is about time we downsize. But that's a hard thing with so many memories and time rebuilding this place to exactly the way I like it.

Oh man! Seems like everything happens in 3s. Hope you got the water cleaned up with little damage. The day has to get better!🩷

I’ve dealt with both of these scenarios and they are incredibly frustrating and embarrassing. But then we get to remember who He is and find the little things to praise Him for when the annoying and frustrating and embarrassing try to take over. I’m sorry about your Monday though and praying your week gets better ♥️

O my goodness. Best to get all that in your rear view mirror. Those times are trying.

Bless your hearts!! You are right, life happens AND sometimes, when it rains it pours AND what doesn’t kill us, builds strength and character. :) Hang in there!

better to have it declined knowing it's in there than declined knowing it's not. I've been in both situations. 😝

Same happened to me last year. Drywal in the garage was wet so had to be dealt with to prevent mold from growing. If the water got into a living space downstairs, it might be a concern for you. Plumber said water heaters are basically only good for 6 years. He suggested to do an automatic replacement BEFORE the damage is done. It would have been a lot cheaper.

Yippe Ky Yay, we've both have been there, and I do not like to involve myself with plumbing or electric. There are just too many ways to get in trouble in either of these artisan trades. I'll leave the hard stuff to the professionals, and only perform the easy, can't miss repairs.

Diana 1234, Thank you, everything is OK, and the new water heater works even better than the old one.
