Battling the salt factor is tough, and it's an ongoing process. "Unstuffed Cabbage" is a great meal, but it has higher salt content. Basically, it consists of cabbage, pasta, beef and/or sausage, and other vegetables. I had 3 dinner meals (it is made in a big pot), and gained 3 pounds. My last meal of unstuffed cabbage was Wednesday, and the salt is finally being washed from my body. Dropped 2 of the pounds coming into today. Thankfully. It's back to the bike this A.M. and put on about 21 miles & 80 minutes. Everyone have a wonderful Friday and keep focused, keep exercising, and keep losing / maintaining your weight. God is good !!

I love unstuffed cabbage and similar meals but you are so right on the salt.

Is cabbage itself full of sodium? Haven’t had it in years. Sounds good.

Yearofhealth2023, I don't believe that cabbage itself is high in sodium. However, the recipe has 1 pound ground beef, 1 pound of sausage, some oil, some orzo, and a large can of diced tomatoes, etc...Plus, to my portion I added some Siracha. It is really good.

MorticiaAddams, it is really good, but higher in salt content. We have this dish maybe once every 6 weeks or so. It is a made in a large pot, so unless there are several people having it, then we eat on it for about 3 days or so. BTW, my wife is a talented chef. She says she's just a cook, but she is really good.

I love sausage, but it's not my friend because of the sodium. content.

Rcguenth, I am the same way with a lot of foods. I very seldom eat sausage, especially ground breakfast sausage. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of ground sausage unless it is in a dish like the unstuffed cabbage. Italian, Andouille, and Chorizo are another matter. I love them, but again very seldom have them.
