Not much can be done about early sunrises although a few more 🐈‍⬛ could quiet the birds 🤔 🤷‍♀️

Off topic, but I’m watching a great little documentary on the little staircases all over the west hills of Portland right now. https://youtu.be/wYuKaX0AE_8?si=0Q6dYzGVj22SPkhR Thought you might enjoy.

🤪 mine used to chase them away ... they were very well fed every morning before heading back out 😉

Our cat sometimes catches them along with other rodents. The problem is having to get up and let them out to hunt. No petdoors for us cause they like to torture live quarry under the bed for entertainment and then forget to kill the catch. Ugh! Total LOSE-LOSE quadrant from a sleep perspective.

Pet doors can also let the outside in without anyone knowing it. My friends had a skunk come in their downstairs pet door up the stairs into their bedroom, one night. Hilarity ensued. I still don’t understand how the skunk got up all those stairs.

As long it's a young skunk or an adolescent they aren't too back heavy. So they use their front paws to lightly get on the stair and then hop up with their back two legs. Believe it or not skunks are quite friendly even wild skunk. We have saved quite a few baby skunks from the road after their parents have been roadkill raise them to weaning and re-released. They don't actually develop scent glands until sexual development about 6 months of age on average and then they don't spray unless they feel threatened. I see them often on my way to work in the early mornings about 4:00 a.m. they're normally not a spray threat like I said unless they feel threatened by you you can get quite close. we had a female that became quite docile because we would feed the outside cats and when she was pregnant she was quite hungry and we begin feeding her by accident at first and my mom started petting her because her bad vision at night before she realized that she was a skunk. after a while she just became part of the pride of cats she'd even bring her kits when they became old enough and weaned. 🤷😆 Although you can have them descented if you decide to ever have one as a pet unlike ferrets they don't maintain that awful musty smell after being descented although like all animals that were intended to be wild they probably would prefer to remain wild. although I will say that I believe that they would make better pets than squirrel who even being raised by bottle and he fed throughout life always are one people animals and are quite aggressive to others after adulthood. Nana has raised many a squirrel who has fallen out of the nest and wasn't retaken by the mother (most squirrel will be reclaimed by their mothers if left alone and kept safe from predators such as cats or dogs until the mother can reclaim them). Granted most of the squirrels that weren't reclaimed were typically of our "white coloration" in Tennessee. This is not to be confused with albinoids or albino squirrels this is a particular family of squirrel that has been found in certain areas of Tennessee they have black eyes not red eyes we had them checked by one of our local rangers whatever reason they have a genetic difference from the local squirrels around. I will see if I can find any of the pictures from my youth of the squirrels and Nana.

My cats can meow with live squirrels in their mouths. Ver talented grils. No pet doors ever. 😂
