dyerseve726's Journal, 17 July 2023

Tested negative for IBD. Best guess is now IBS. Had another brief cardiac episode yesterday and a small setback with my weight, but I believe I finally figured out the issue there. The chronic diarrhea may have caused me to go into metabolic acidosis. Blood work at least partially confirms this and I don't know why the docs didn't catch it. ALL of the symptoms apply during my episodes. Both times happened immediately upon waking, when I'm dehydrated and have thicker/more acidic blood. I found immediate relief after chugging water and having a bowl of cheerios/milk. Taking a single tums twice a day and staying hydrated, and I have been feeling good again. This also explains why I felt ok for a couple days after the ER, where they gave me a GI cocktail that was primarily classic antacids that would absorb through the GI. I stopped taking the PPI and started taking the anti-diarrheal. Messaged my doc about my theory and asked for more extensive blood work to test for acidosis. Thanks for following my not so fun health journey! lol

I’ve read many of your posts and see your struggles. I know you have seen many doctors and had tests. Have you ever been to a Naturopath?

@Leah_guffey very rarely. I don't drink soda or anything except on rare occasions. Pizza parties n such. I can't think of anything else I eat that might have caramel coloring.

@ Ginsin I have not, but I actually do feel like I have a correct diagnosis and am seeing vast improvements. Like, healthiest I've felt in two years improvements. Just gonna stick with what is working right now. If things change and I can't get any answers, I'm willing to try anything.
