As I achieved my weight loss goals 4 years ago my main emphasis has been on improving my diet. Since last April I have tried to eat whole grains with every meal, fruit three times a day, five or more vegetables a day, adding nuts to my diet (placing nuts in small 1 oz.containers prevents me from eating too many), drink more water, and eat fish two or three times a week. It's been a work in progress and even though it wasn't a New Years resolution I've been perfect so far this year. It seems that once you develop a routine it becomes much easier to follow.
