Keidrake's Journal, 21 June 2022

Been awhile since I was really active. And lots of things have happened since then. I was referred for bariatric surgery and have to undergo 6 months of a doctor supervised weightloss trial before I qualify for the surgery. Currently I'm moving my diet around and making better choices over all. Swimming is my main exercise at the moment since it doesn't bother my back. I also have been getting in 6000 steps a day. That's the current step goal. It's not much, but its enough to not put too much stress on my back. I already feel better since I've gotten started.

This week I'll have to do fasting bloodwork as well as getting a chest xray, this will help set a baseline for what I need for my surgery that I'm hoping will be sometime next January. I got an ekg last week at the doctor's last week as well.

I also need to go ahead and take some before pics so I really have something to compare to as time goes on.

Besides weightloss focus, I'm setting a small temporary fish pond outside for a couple fish that someone found in an old property they were asked to clean out. They'll move to my large fish pond that we're planning to finish in October when the weather is cooler. I also got several bare root plants for my birthday this month. White batwing flower, white filligree hostas, bleeding heart, golden hakone grass, and Japanese painted ferns. Really looking forward to them starting to grow. ^_^ They'll probably stay in pots til next spring, then I'll plant them in my yard.

Now that I'm done with coffee, It's time to get my 13yr old started on her school work for the day. Homeschool for the win!

January?! Has the doctor decided which bariatric variation will apply? I wish you everything goes fine and have the surgery done.

@ Tassos67: I haven't had my first appointment with the Surgeon's office yet. They needed some bloodwork, ekg, and chest xray before my first apointment, so I've been working on getting that all in the last week. For awhile I was leaning towards the gastric band, but after lots of reading, research, and listening to what other who have already gone through the surgery have said. I'm more inclined to get the gastric sleeve. It seems that many people end up going back and having the band revised to the sleeve. The other two options, I'm more leary of because of their long term side effects, and they're more invasive.
