great swim yesterday, I've moved into a different performance tier than last year which is cool. by swimming standards, I am an old lady, so any improvement is good and significant improvement is awesome. I also know I would get my butt kicked in competition. I'm doing this for me. my new paddles will be here next week, they've been on order for weeks. bigger surface, more resistance, work harder. I love swimming with them and then taking them off. feels like I'm shooting through the water.
Swim, 879 strokes, 151 average heart rate, 18 minutes in peak, 10 in warm up. 10.7 METs, so that's getting better as well, eventually it should go down again as my body adapts. also went from burning around 340 calories to 360+ in thirty minutes. before anyone argues, I know calorie counts are nonsense, all I can do is compare what it was before to what it is now, so that's what I do. and I know this number is way bigger than any other activity I do on a regular basis.
yesterday's adventure was watching some airplanes taking off departing San Diego. three A-10s. I've loved them since I was a little kid because we always did the air show thing. I can't take pics. but yeah, I'm a cheap date. it works for me though.
muscles way down with the water from the weekday workouts. I do think that's what's letting me get in much better sessions in the pool. my overall strength is way better, so the goal will be to get back up to 900 strokes or more once I adjust to the new paddles. the eggbeater sessions continue because that's not really work, that's just a thing I do in the water for a song or two. so happy real pool weather is back. winter pool is fun, but I like getting out and not freezing.
muscle way down, water down, blob way up. fluctuations.
