Had to get strict with my scale today! I stepped on, and it said 158. No, no, I said! Gave it a little kick, so it was moved over a foot, and stepped on again. Ah, 155 it said! Thank you. Please pay attention, Scale Thing!
Went to a party last night, and had a fun time. The occasion was a school fundraiser: Prom for Parents. I went alone. Daughter assured me that there would be alcohol. When I got there, the alcohol was not available. The kids didn't get their permit request in on time. Well, it was a prom, so what do you do? The "cool kids" went down to the packy* as we call it in Boston and brought in beers for everybody! That was cooler than having the kids provide drinks - we didn't even have to go down to the parking lot to drink it. A good time was had by all. The music was too loud for my taste, but I danced, ate, talked with acquaintances. Ah, suburban life! Home by 11:15 and nobody wanted to go to the Ihop for pancakes, not even me.
My mom gave me a dress to wear - I tried on my daughters' old prom gowns, but I couldn't get the zippers up - those gowns don't stretch! So, maybe for next year I set my goal at 125 and see if I can get into one of those gowns for next year.
I am coming up on my 12th month on fatsecret. I have not reached my goal, but I have lost 15 pounds. So, yeah, me! Hang in there all of you out there, keep getting back to it. It is very hard, and it is easy to say "what's the use?" and quit, but we are here for the health and improvement of our lives. Weight goes up and down, and the one thing that my mom said that really rings true: even if you only "diet" every other day, you will lose weight and get healthier. That is the one thing that is the basis of what I am doing food-wise, and then on top of that support of my viewers just builds on that.

*packy = package store which is a liquor store that also seems to sell just beef jerky and breath mints. You used to be required have all items in a package when you leave the store because of obscure laws and Puritan policies.
