Still going over the caloric max I’ve set daily but a little better yesterday than the day before. Thank goodness the last bagel is gone. Bread is my weakness. Even more than desserts.
I’m trying to be interested in healthy food again. I remember the old adage ‘imagine how much free time you’d have if you weren’t thinking about food, reading labels, and calculating constantly. That’s true. But this, recording and analyzing, is the only way for me to be fully aware of what I’m doing.
Last night I tried two recipes from the tasty app: Meringue cookies and parmesan crisps, just trying to find a healthy and harmless snack. Cowboys playoffs tomorrow night and my friend Yoga will be here and she’s a low carb dieter. I didn’t like the Meringue; it was like taking a mouthful of powder and weird. The cheese crisps were great. I tried them with mozzarella cheese too but they didn’t get as crisp as the parmesan. I read today on FS that someone does them in a skillet instead of the oven so I’m going to try that.
My doctor recommended replacing ‘that bedtime glass of milk I love so’ with Glucerna shakes. I sampled the chocolate and it was okay so I’ve ordered a case of it and a case of the Southern Pecan. It was really good and I was able to go to sleep. So that’s a good thing that I’ve replaced a half peanut butter sandwich and milk with the glucerna.
I also found a pure protein drink that’s ‘clear’ - I have had the powdery ones in the past; so much trouble with the mixing and blending. This is just ‘open and drink’ and I got the fruit punch and it was pretty good for a breakfast. I’m not giving up chewing for liquid, I like to chew. I just like having this option when I don’t have time to cook.
I’m proud that my blood sugar is half what it was in November but I still have a ways to go. I’m not exercising despite knowing how much that would help. But with watching my sugar and carb intake I think this is good progress.
