I'm on the mend. The lumpectomy and recovery was painless. The preop is another story. First trial was putting an iv in my hand. Then was EKG. Then I was wheeled to another building. This is where I was introduced to PAIN. They took a lymph nod without anesthesia. This procedure was excruciating. Was afraid I had broken the hand of theNot to be outdone, the next step was to stick a wire into the tumor. For this they did anesthisize my breast. Thank heavens. They said that the tumor was hard and it was difficult getting the wire in and when they did it would bounce out. Finally they were able to inject a blue, radioactive dye. They taped a paper cup to my breast to keep the wire in place while I was wheeled to a mammogram. More fun! 😁 Next I was layed on a table where I was xrayed. The tech then took pictures of the lymph spot and the tumor. He showed me the pictures and the tumor looked like a dot while the lymph hole was much larger. ( . vs ⚫) i was then wheeled back to the main building where I received a chest xray. Surgeon Johnsen came in to say hi. Then the anesthesiologist came in briefly. FINALLY I was wheeled into the OR. Oxygen administered, then Propofol was administered. Next thing I remember was back in recovery. Dr stopped in to tell me things went well and to make an appointment for the twelfth day. I was then instructed to go home, rest, do not raise arm or lift anything. IV was then removed. Kate drove to pharmacy to turn in scrip. She took me home, ordered a pizza then went to pick up drugs and pizza. I ate 1/4 of the pizza and then slept til morning. Kate ask if she could go. Told her yes and then slept till Thursday afternoon. Bg was in proper limits the whole time.
289.0 lb Lost so far: 18.2 lb.    Still to go: 31.8 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
