sewaweru's Journal, 12 April 2010

Although it is not recorded here on fatsecret, I did so well from the last week of December 09 through January 10. I averaged 3lbs per week and hit 4lbs the last week. I had to show myself (and my wife)that I could be committed. We made a deal that I had to be consistant for one month before I got the Insanity workout. Well I succeeded and then I just stopped. I really cannot explain why. Well needless to say I am back and have a new mindset. A large part of the reason I stopped is because I had been chasing a 8lbs per week weight loss and did not reach it any of the 5 weeks I was working. I understand now that I can aim for a perticular number on the scale but I need to be realistic. 3-4lbs of loss per week is great because I have to make sure I lose fat and not muscle or bone density or any thing like that. I don't want a quick fix. I want a perminent lifestyle change that will last and keep me healthy.

I am committed to succeeding at this once and for all. I have to meet all the challenges such as random "treats" at the office with discipline and conviction. I had a test today and failed. Someone brought in Chick-Fil-A breakfast sandwiches and hash browns for the entire office and I did, unfortunately, partake. I, however, will not do what I normally do, which is use that as an excuse to continue to eat unhealthy. They say it takes 21 days to form a lasting habit. So step one is to form the lasting habit of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. That entails:
1.) preplanning all meals
2.) getting to the market for the healthy ingredients needed
3.) learning how to order healthy alternatives when eating out
4.) making healthy eating and exercising as much second nature as brushing my teeth.

This can be done. I will be successful. This is The Fat Mans Journey Phil. 4:13
