Ugg, today for lunch I had okra. I don't think I've ever had it before, but I wanted to try a different vegetable. Never again! It was coated in slime and made for a better conversation piece than a meal.

LOL! I remember when I was a teenager my mom decided that she too wanted to try something different and made okra. I'm laughing because I had exactly the same reaction! She made frozen okra. Was yours fresh or frozen? I wonder because we speculated that the freezing process might have cause the slime. If yours was freshe then I know that isn't the case!!

I've heard there is supposed to a way to cook it that makes it more palatable (don't know what it is, though). But in my opinion, if you have to try that hard to make it so you can stomach something, what are you trying for?

It was frozen. As gross as it is, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Now at least I know I didn't eat a bit of rotten vegetables!

oh... Okra ain't that bad! I had never seen it until I moved to Tennessee.. I like it fried.. But then again.. That really wouldn't make it healthy. It is good in stews and soups to help thicken it.
