Day 152- I am on the road till late Fri. so in other words, I am doing well on the journey front. I hope to have another drop when I get home.

We are having a heat wave here, 100+ degrees here today. I need to buy more bottled water for the car. So far this heat wave I have been OK and sweat has not been a problem. But, I do feel grimy at the end of the day. BTW, my hotel room is freezing right now......

So last night I cruised the 'active' site for my first 5K to enter and I think I found one, it is a Life is Good one in late July. I figure I need to set a date/goal to be road ready so I move this little project along. One fear I have is I am a completive person, after all I am in sales...., and I will want to be completive in any sort of run. I need to find someone to run with so I get a feel for my pace. I am also thinking of getting a running watch/gps to help with this. I don't want to spend a ton on it, but know it would help greatly.

Also trying to decide if I should get running shorts or not. Not sure I am down with that fashion yet………..

I feel you on the "grimy" at the end of the day. The A/C in my car is broken right now and I felt so gross getting out yesterday after work. Keep on it with the water!! Signing up for a race should definitely give you some extra motivation. Do it!!!

Do you have a smart phone? If so, you can get an app like "MapMyRun" and it will measure distance, speed, GPS location, ect. I think picking a date and a race will help you focus on preparing. I didn't think I could ever do a 1/2 marathon. Once I finally signed up I got serious about training and held myself accountable. Oh...one more thing! I hope you are not letting those water bottles sit in the car with the heat all day...it's said that the heat can cause the plastics to "leak" toxins into the water.

I think I will try the phone app, I need to get an armband for it. I don't know how I will do with the weight of the phone, it is not that big, but I just don't like something like that on me yet. I flashback to TAPE walkmans when I played football and training. It was like wearing a brick on one side of your body. As for water in the car, some things are not avoidable in life. Refillable just has not worked well for me. I also think how clean is a bottle that you refill and can't clean/see the inside of. I know you can treat it (I use to sell those chemicals) but I just look at the opening and it makes me squirm. I think I am going to sign up for the run when I get in tonight. I picked the Life is Good one just for the shirt, LOL, all of mine are to big now, LOL

I'm sure signing up will keep you focused on your 5K training. My hubby uses the MapMyRun app and loves it. It's helped him a lot with his running, he's trying to train for a future 5K too. Good luck!!

Its my understanding men are into really short tight spandex shorts...okay thats a joke. Seriously dont think there is any fashion faux pas for men. Enjoy your runs.
