Blonde613's Journal, 12 June 2012

All signed up. I thought everyone was suppose to eat 1200 calories a day, but this just gave me 1700 calories a day. I have already consumed 1,043 calories today and it is only 2:38pm. Ugh! I also don't want to eat after 5pm. Is this too aggressive? I'm 33 years old and my body is looking the worst it has ever been. I started a "Couch to 5K" workout but I believe I eat WWAAAYYY too much to see any results from that. Hope I learn a lot on here. :/

i would suggest to check calories before having your dinner so that you will not "ruin" the day. i dont know how can you eat before 5pm without STARVING before going to bed ... i usually have dinner around 8/9pm (it's more cultural related) and if i'm hungry i usually have a snack at 5pm

How much a person can eat and still lose depends on a whole lot of factors such as age, current weight, height, activity level, sex, genetics, etc. 1700 a day may be too much for you or you may lose on it. You might start at 1500 a day and see what happens. If you don't lose, you can cut it and see what happens. I would also be proactive and start learning about nutrition and exercise. Get some fitness magazines and read some articles online. There's tons of information and you take what you think may benefit you. Protein and high fiber help you lose fat and keep you fuller than any other food groups. Focus on lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies. Watch your processed food intake because they contain a lot of sodium. Stay hydrated. Water helps flush out sodium. Green tea has been shown to help with fat loss. If you eat early, you may need a small snack before bed. If you stay within your caloric intake, when you eat should have no impact on how you lose. People who work night shift eat all night and sleep all day and still lose. Again, you have to see how your body responds. Get active! Activity burns calories. As you get older, your metabolism will slow each year after 30 so you need to exercise to get the metabolism going. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn at rest, the more easily you will lose weight and be able to maintain the weight. Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight gain. If you weigh daily, you should expect fluctuations based on many factors. Consistency is key in weight loss.
